The Senate passed a
new and improved Police Reform Bill. This Bill will go a long way in providing
better security for all Nigerians by ensuring that personnel of Nigeria's
Police Force are better trained and better equipped to serve and protect. The
Bill provide methods of dealing with abuse of weapons by police officers and also
ensures that the police and police officers are held accountable in their
actions especially in the areas of arrest and detention of persons and
searches. This is crucial in Nigeria were police extra-judicial killings and brutality
is the border of the day. The bill will now go to the House of representative for concurrence.
